 FUTURE YOU
 life skills for young people

What are life skills?

Life skills is all about learning who you are as an individual and gaining an understanding of what makes you tick.  It allows young people to learn different tools and techniques to help form their FUTURE YOU

Shaping their world, looking at the bigger picture and learning different ways to help now and in the future is vital to every young person, our life skills programme aims to enrich the learning experience and improve emotional wellbeing.

Whether it is academic centred learning or vocational learning,
FUTURE YOU life skills will appeal to all and is inclusive of all.

What can life skills do?

Why wait?  We have been delivering similar workshops within businesses and organisations since Evolve began in 2003 and we recognise the gap in these very vital skills, which every young person needs to make progress.  From getting into university or college to entering the workplace, the life skills programme aims to fill that gap and give the young people who participate a head start.

Working with schools, colleges and youth organisations, we run workshops which focus on real and relevant issues faced by young people, we encourage the take up of the complete programme of workshops to maximise the positive impact and benefits as the young people who participate benefit from learning a "joined up" approach to how they can positively affect their future.

If you feel an individual workshop would be of particular benefit we are happy to provide this.

Who Am I?

Discovering who you are is all part of growing up, in this workshop we encourage the group to look at themselves, giving them the opportunity to think openly and talk honestly.

We discuss self awareness, preconceptions of self and others and we look at ways to improve confidence and self esteem.

This great workshop has proven invaluable to so many young people at different stages of their lives.

Is Anyone Listening?

The ability to communicate is vital, a lack of communication can lead to frustration and disappointment.

In this workshop we look at different types and ways of communication and how we can use communication effectively to have a positive influence on ourselves and others.

A great example of how effective this workshop is illustrated with the current trend in education for young people choosing an alternative to GCSE's.  Often requiring movement from one education environment to another and mixing with new and different groups, the need be heard and communicate effectively is imperative.  The young people who have taken part in this workshop have gained a much greater understanding of communication, enabling them to adapt and communicate more effectively.

Reality Check

Sometimes we all need a reality check, this workshop focuses on how to get where you want to go and what needs to be done to get there.

This workshop has been effective with providing young people with skills to enable them to make their choices the right choices, the tools gained through the Reality Check process can be used ongoing throughout their lives.

Coping Under Pressure

Young people are faced with many different pressures and often don't know how to cope when under pressure.

In this workshop we look at the different pressures which are faced by young people, we look at the causes of stress and the associated symptoms.  We then introduce different tools and techniques which can be effective in helping cope with stress.

From choosing subjects to study, in school, college or university, right through to facing exam pressures this workshop has helped young people to deal with these issues.

Nurture Groups

Our nurture groups provide young people who may feel isolated, due to personal and behavioural issues, a safe environment to work through these difficulties.

Over a six week period this programme has been successful in helping young people to understand and deal with personal and emotional issues.

One to One Programme

In addition to our workshops we also offer one to one coaching for young people.

We usually advise a six week programme with weekly one to one sessions with one of our team, the programme is not a generic format and is determined by the needs of the young person with the objective of helping them to feel positive and confident about the here and now and looking forward to a promising future.
